FAQs

  • What is balanced training?

Balanced training combines positive reinforcement (like treats, praise, and play) with fair, ethical corrections to clearly communicate boundaries and expectations. It focuses on building trust and clarity, helping dogs learn desired behaviors while addressing unwanted ones.

  • Do you guarantee results?

While we are committed to helping you and your dog succeed, results depend heavily on consistency at home, your dog’s temperament, and your follow-through. We do not guarantee specific results, but we do guarantee professional, ethical support and guidance.

  • How long will it take to see results?

Some clients see progress within the first few sessions, while others may need more time. It all depends on the dog’s behaviour and the owner’s consistency. Training is a process, not a quick fix.

  • What tools do you use?

We may recommend tools such as flat collars, slip leads, prong collars, or e-collars—only when appropriate and always introduced with clear instruction and consent. Every dog is different, and we only use tools ethically, safely, and humanely.

  • Do you work with aggressive or reactive dogs?

Yes, we work with dogs that exhibit reactivity, fear, or aggression. However, these cases require a custom plan, and an initial evaluation may be necessary to determine the best course of action.

  • Can more than one family member attend sessions?

Absolutely! In fact, we encourage all members of the household to participate so that the dog receives consistent direction and guidance.

  • What age should I start training my puppy?

You can begin training as early as 8 weeks! Early training helps prevent behavioural issues and sets the stage for long-term success. We offer age-appropriate puppy programs that focus on socialization, house training, and basic obedience.

  • Are there any breed restrictions?

Nope! At Balanced K9s, we don’t discriminate. We offer training services to all breeds and sizes. Each dog is assessed individually to create a training plan that works for them.

  • Will my dog be punished or hurt?

No. Balanced training emphasizes fair, humane corrections that are never painful or abusive. Our goal is to communicate clearly—not to intimidate. Your dog’s physical and emotional well-being is always our top priority.
